The rocket got hung up on the rail and took the launch rail with it. This reduced the projected apogee from 1200 feet to 850 feet, causing the delay to be too long resulting in another zipper. The Zipper wasn't as bad as the first one and may be repairable.

2 recommendations:

  • Use Rail Buttons instead of Rail Guides - The guides work fine in most cases. However, when the rails are dirty and not secured, the drag reduces the launch velocity and can cause the rail to lift with the rocket
  • Coil the recovery harness to increase opening time and reduce the shock of recovery equipment engagement - This was a recommendation by several L3 Members and the Section President.

Actual Altitude: 800 Feet (Altimeter)
