This 70's vintage Estes Bandit is still at work, lifting a mini HD videocamera/recorder to an altitude of 800 feet on a D12-5 motor. The extended payload bay also houses an Altimeter Two, recording altitude, speed, acceleration and a few other timing values of the flight.  At ejection, the payload is seperated from the booster, there is no shock cord.  This allows the camera to fall while remaining vertical (but upside-down) and with less turbulance to continue taking horizon pictures.  It also prevents snap-back trouble.  The system still needs some tweaks, the sway under the parachute is still a bit too much.
