It was a beautiful flight, perhaps an altitude record-breaker. But we will never know. The screw-eye threads failed at the balsa noseblock, allowing the payload section to fall unseen into 3-foot tall grass. I could have seen it, but I was in the wrong spot and blinded when the rocket flew into the sun from my point of view. Lesson learned: Never stand down-sun, and always reinforce the screw eye/balsa joint with a short length of Kevlar.
