Flight Log - 2003-01-19 - John Eric Thompson's Big Freaking Rocket BFR

This was a scratch built rocket and was completed with the help of Val Derkach from the DART rocket club and other fellow rocket members.  It was launch the weekend just before deploying to Iraq.  It was the first tour of four before retiring from the Marine Corps. Picture perfect flight.  Lift off was with the main N reload and the outboards were connected to a timer that ignited the outboards four seconds after clearing from the pad.  It was also equipped with a Pratt Hobbies dual R/C system for emergency deployment of the chute in case of an issue.  It was also equipped with a Black Sky Altacc that recorded its flight performance.

It had a 15 foot drogue parachute that deployed at 250 feet below apogee and a 28 foot main parachute that deployed 800 feet above ground level.
