Flight Log - 2016-02-13 - Matthew Bond's Estes Mega Der Pink Max

Estes upscaled Red Max Pro Series II kit.  Added an eyebolt to the top centering ring and replaced the shock cord with 20 feet of braided Kevlar.  Added some balsa "dams" to the motor mount which allowed me to pot the TTW fin tabs in epoxy where they attached to the motor mount.  Currently using a kevlar heat shield and a 30 inch Spherachute for recovery.  Rocket was initially flown "nekkid", but final colors will be pink with a purple nosecone and "Der Pink Max" decals from Stickershock.

Flight Date: 2016-02-13
Rocket Name: Estes Mega Der Pink Max
Kit Name: Estes - Mega Der Red Max {Kit} (9705)
Flyer's Name: Matthew Bond
Motors: H180-9
Expected Altitude: 1,940 Feet
Wind Speed: 9.00 mph
Launch Site: SEARS

Nice fast boost, arcing into the wind.  Kind of a wimpy show for a sparky motor, seemed to burn much faster than I am used to.  The arcing flight equaled a lower apogee which in turn meant that the delay was a bit long.  Rocket was over the top and nose down accelerating at ejection.  Good chute, the wind brought it back close to the pad.  Short walk, landed on the field, no damage.
