Flight Log - 2018-09-08 - Matthew Bond's Estes Mega Der Pink Max

Estes upscaled Red Max Pro Series II kit.  Added an eyebolt to the top centering ring and replaced the shock cord with 20 feet of braided Kevlar.  Added some balsa "dams" to the motor mount which allowed me to pot the TTW fin tabs in epoxy where they attached to the motor mount.  Currently using a kevlar heat shield and a 30 inch Spherachute for recovery.  Rocket was initially flown "nekkid", but final colors will be pink with a purple nosecone and "Der Pink Max" decals from Stickershock.

Yeeeee-Haw!  Awesome flight, ripped off the rail and straight up into the sky.  Lost it for a while against the high clouds, but finally picked up the tracking smoke and saw the ejection charge go off more or less at apogee.  The assembled crowd managed to keep it in sight as it descended and the Jolly Logic Chute Release did it's thing at 500 feet.  Landed on the sod a couple hundred yards away from the flight line with no damage.  Awesome flight, might actually be a little too aggressive of a motor for this rocket.  It just got up and was out of sight.  We'll see, I've got one more in the motor box
