Shop @ RocketReviewsQuest Aerospace MLAS Sport Scale Model Rocket Kit NASA's Maximum Launch Abort System (MLAS) is designed to protect the astronauts inside the upcoming Orion spacecraft. In the event of an emergency, the MLAS could be used to propel the spacecraft away from the booster to safety. To test the MLAS concept, NASA flew a test flight on July 8, 2009, at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility, Wallops Island Virginia.
Quest's sport-scale model streaks aloft on a pillar of smoke and fire then floats gently to Earth under a total of three parachutes - the capsule under two; the booster under its own.
