Stratos II+ Rocket launch to 21.5 km

Flight of the Stratos II+ rocket to 21.5 km (70,500 feet) altitude, breaking the European altitude record for amateur rocketry. The Stratos II+ rocket lifted off on the 16th of October at 16:33 CEST from the El Arenosillo base in Southern Spain. It reached a maximum speed of 2545 km/h, which is about twice the speed of sound. The video shows the countdown, liftoff and drogue parachute deployment at apogee. Afterwards, the capsule splashes down in the Atlantic ocean and is recovered by boat. The rocket was built by students of the Delft University of Technology. Airbus Defence and Space NL, SES Satellites, Safran Aerospace Propulsion Products, TNO, National Instruments, Airliquide and INTA helped making the launch Stratos II+ possible. The onboard footage was made in cooperation with Delft Dynamics. Read more about the flight at http://dare.tudelft.nl/2015/10/we-broke-the-record/
