Flight Log - 2013-04-27 - Tom Watkins's Snarky

First flight. I built it years ago and had it on display.

Flight Date: 2013-04-27
Rocket Name: Snarky
Kit Name: DynaStar - Snarky {Kit} (05030)
Flyer's Name: Tom Watkins
Motors: D 12 5
Expected Altitude: 395 Feet
Wind Speed: 5.00 mph
Launch Site: Happy Valley
Actual Altitude: 400 Feet

Due to wind speed and trees surrounding the launch area, I used a Estes chute that was considerably smaller than the stock parachute. This rocket had been on display for years and I was very aprehensive leading up to this first flight. The Snarky launch was perfect. The 5 second delay and smaller chute brought the Snarky down within 75 feet of the launch pad. My nephew actually caught it before it hit the ground. The snarky was equipped with a keychain video camera taped to the side. The entire video is available here. http://youtu.be/ctfXsTDNiOs
