The Astrobee D IV (C) is the newest version (2013) of my Astrobee D series of rockets. Unlike the A and B rockets, the Astrobee D IV (C) will concentrate on performing scientific experiments in 2013 including releasing reflective powder in the atmosphere for making visual contact.

Flight was a success although the left side boosters nose cone broke off during the launch which help limit the altiude. The science experiement (line of sight) worked well while the booster and upper stage payload returned safely to the ground under their own parachutes. On board flight computers (EB1 and EB2) worked perfectly and the backup / tiny truster ignition baffle located in the aft of the payload upper stage ignited and helped deploy the SPAK experiment. The small charge may have also assisted in thrusting the payload bay forward and away from the booster.
