Astrobee D test launch in eastern Ontario

My Astrobee D high-powered rocket was launched from an old airfield in eastern Ontario on May 11th, 2012.  The 3.25 pound (1.47 kg) rocket carried an advanced electronics package which included my own 'air intake unit'  that performed flawlessly.  Also inside the payload was five pieces of Canadian mail with 1936 Gerhard Zucker 'First Canadian Rocket-Flight' postage attached.    This rocket launch is the second in a series of flights dating back to October of 2011 carrying registered mail on-board.

ASTROBEE D TEST LAUNCH IN EASTERN ONARIO

The launch on May 11th, 2012 of the Astrobee D rocket by Aerotech was a test of the Astrologger 54 electronics package  located inside the payload compartment.  The short 36 sec. flight over the old airflied was  a success although the heavy rocket (3.25 pounds) reached a minimal altitude due to its heavier payload and smaller engine.   The next launch scheduled in July will include the Astrobee D III (c) rocket which carries up to three strap-on boosters.  The on-board video camera as well as the launch pad recorder captured a great launch that can be seen on the Rocket Room 101 You Tube channel or Facebook page. http://www.youtube.com/user/artkickstart
