DFR's 1/72nd scale model of the Boeing pre-EELV configuration rocket is based on the Delta III's six ground-start and three air-start SRM configuration.
The model flies with six A10-PT motors in the SRMs and a core C6 motor in the main airframe. The kit's clear acrylic fins are almost invisible during flight.
The Delta III rocket flew just three times from 1998 to 2000. The first two missions failed while the third placed a dummy satellite in a lower-than-required orbit. The Delta III project was cancelled in 2000 in favor of the new EELV Delta IV being developed for the USAF. The Delta III launched from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.
This is a kit is intended for the experienced builder. Adhesive wraps are provided as an option to simulate the color (Teal) of the rocket first stage and the small detail and foam color of the second stage.
