PicI thought I would put in a short product report on Acme's ( the fin can guys) new extruded aluminum launch lugs.

I just received two packages of the 54FC lugs for 3/8" rods and one package of regular 54mm 1/4" rod lugs. You get 2 lugs in each package, each lug is 1.5" long and has a 45deg. taper on each end.The fit to 54mm tubing is very good, you cannot get these things on crooked.  The ends need to be cleaned up as they are rather rough. It only took me about 5 min. with a sanding block with 220 paper to make them look perfecto.

The regular lugs are $3.25, the fin can lugs, which are oval in profile to clear the ACME fin can, are $4.25.They come with instructions and special 3M sheet adhesive that is supposed to be extremely strong.  You also get a nifty ACME decal(Beep-Beep zoooom).(Beep-Beep zoooom). They are a lot more than you have been paying for regular lugs, but for your nice projects they are really worth it.They Come in a bunch of sizes for different size tubes and rods.

The owner is very good to deal with, and in real life he is a real rocket guy and works at NASA in Houston. I really don't work for him with him or have any pecuniary interest in his company.

Besides launch lugs for 38mm through 7.5" diameter tubes, Acme also has rail guides with the same conformal base for all those same sizes. The same ease of use, the same bullet proof construction, and only 20 cents more than the lugs. In addition, they make 38mm and 54mm lugs and rail guides with stand offs, to fit with their 38mm and 54mm fin cans with their larger O.D.

I used the 54mm stand off rails, worked great, I used 5 minute epoxy to attach them. The instructions say CA or epoxy can be used as well. The CA may work but the epoxy worked great, bonded well holding it to the PML quatum tube.
