Brief:
Lightweight 29mm HPR scale of the Little John complete with Nomex®
chute protector and rip stop nylon parachute.
Construction:
This kit comes with high quality plywood fins, a balsa nose cone and a sturdy
motor mount. Full recovery equipment is supplied including a nice parachute and
even a Nomex®
chute protector. The kit comes well packed in a heavy bag and shipped in a well
packed box. Everything in the kit was extraordinarily organized and neatly
arranged.
One of the more unique aspects of this kit is the nose cone assembly. A bulkhead and steel eye screw are glued to a coupler. The coupler is then glued to the nose cone. This extra sturdy design has enough space between the nose cone and bulkhead to add extra weight for you insane super high flier types.
Otherwise, the construction went fast and was straightforward. Everything needing cutting is done for you including the laser cut fins and centering rings and laser cut fin slots. There are no cons here. Well written instructions and quality components made this a real pleasure to build
Finishing:
The kit came with a nice balsa nose cone. For you perfectionists out there,
this can be quite time consuming. Sanding and sealing it to achieve a nice
finish can take longer than the rest of the build.
The high quality of the rest of the components made for easy and simple finishing. Little sanding was needed to get a nice finish on the fins. I sprayed mine with a gray primer and finished it off with a 1950's dark olive drab. The kit comes with a heavy sticker to finish off the scale look.

Flight:
Prepping this rocket for flight is as fast as it gets with the supplied Nomex®
chute protector and Kevlar®
ribbon shock cord.
They recommend some hefty motors for this rocket. I wanted to keep it low for its first flight so I went with the AT E30-4. It left the pad so fast I never had a chance to get a picture.
Recovery:
Recovery was slightly late but perfectly executed. That is until it landed on
the school.

Summary:
They recommend 7 different motors for this rocket that range in altitude from
645' to 1770'. My guess is that these motors only scratch the surface of what's
possible with this kit.
The ease of build, scale look, high quality and toughness of this kit will make it one of the most versatile rockets in your fleet.
