Brief:
This is a very realistic micro scale model of the famous Nike Smoke kit used in the 1950s and 1960s.

Construction:
Here is the list of components that it comes with:

• solid plastic nose cone
• BT-20 body tube
• BT-5 motor mount tube
• 2 13mm-18mm centering rings
• 4 plywood fins (yes, plywood)
• eyelet
• 18" long Kevlar® like white shock cord
• 8" fabric parachute
• reinforcements
• shroud lines
• decal sheet

Instructions were very detailed, much like Estes instructions. There is a diagram for each step and it explicitly tells what to do. There are no confusing parts about the instructions. I had to take some spare tubing that I had laying around and make another body tube because the ends of the tube that came with it were crumppled a little bit, causing the nose cone to not fit. It wasn't a big deal though, and I had a lot of that size tube lounging around. I was very happy and suprised to see plywood fins on this model being the size that it is. The nose cone is top of the line stuff as well as solid (and therefore heavy) but is very attractive. It won't dent like balsa will and adds weight, so you might have a chance of getting it back. The instructions have a diagram that helps you mark where the fins are going to be by putting the body tube over the diagram and marking the spots. After I made the body tube change, the nose cone fit perfectly onto the body tube. The kit comes with an 8 inch fabric parachute and reinforcments for the parachute. It is a very easy assembly with the reinforcements and shroud lines that it came with. The Nike Smoke also came with a shock cord although I'm not really sure what its made of.

Finishing:
The instructions say to mask off the fins and shoot it with a couple of couts of gloss white, then mask off the body tube and one fin and shoot it with flourescent orange. Then you mask off the painted fins and body tube and shoot the last fin with flourescent yellow. I did this and then cleared the whole thing with clear enamel. This makes for a beautiful finish and a very nice looking rocket. Even though I had to replace the body tube, I give this a 5 out of 5 because of the looks when you finish the rocket. wonderful little kit.

Flight:
I flew this rocket out of my homebuilt tower at the September 9th launch in Manchester,TN. I flew it twice, both on A3-4T. Both flights were wonderful, barely burning the tower. The rocket went up maybe 250-300 feet.

Recovery:
The recovery has a Kevlar® like string and an 8 inch fabric parachute.

The first flight did just what it was supposed to, deploying the chute and had the rocket coming down slowly. However, the second flight didn't fair so well. It popped the nose cone, but the chute didn't come out. Due to the very heavy nose cone, it came down very fast and chipped off the sharp end of the nose cone and dented the forward end of the body tube.

Summary:
GREAT JOB NEUBAUER!!! This is a great kit for anyone who has built a rocket before. It may be frustrating because it is so small, but you will be rewarded with a great looking rocket.
