The Converter rocket is a collection of four screw together tubes that assemble at the field into a rocket 24" to 40" long. Change the rocket after each launch and record the difference.
The kit came in a four sided box and plastic bag with the following items:
♦ 1- Set of Instructions
♦ 1- Nose Cone PNC-56
♦ 3- Body Tubes 6" (15.2cm)
♦ 1- Tail Section Body Tube 8.25" (21 cm) with attached launch lug
♦ 3- Female Screw Couplers
♦ 3- Male Screw Couplers
♦ 1- 18" Assembled Plastic Parachute
♦ 1- 1/4"x30" Rubber Shock Cord
♦ 1- Decal Sheet (self stick)
Pros: This is a E2X series rocket which means it's almost ready to fly. There are only six steps to this build and plastic cement will be used for the first three. They are the assembly of the plastic fin unit and glueing in each of the male & female couplers to the body tubes. From there the parachute is installed in typical Estes style and then you add the stickers and it's ready for launch.
Cons: None
Pros: What's to finish? Fin can, couplers and nose cone are molded in yellow plastic and body tubes are black wrapped.
Cons: Stick on decals
Converter Fully Assembled
I broke this one out at a club launch for it's maiden flight and was promptly challenged to a drag race by a fellow club member (can't remember the boys name). We agreed on C6-5's and we both loaded up and when the range opened each of us took are rockets to are assigned pads. After connecting the leads we returned and waited for are flight to come up. When the LSO announced are race all eyes watched as both rockets left the pad at almost the same time. Mine appeared to the first off the pad and climbed to a higher altitude and was declared the winner by taking longer to descend as well. In all fairness though it was probably due to mine being brand new and his having been repaired from a previous mishap so he took it in good nature.
Parachute was right at apogee and rocket came down at a nice decent rate and recovered down range a shot distance with no damage.
This rocket goes together in about a half hours time and is perfect for the first time rocketeer who wants a range of different size rockets on a small budget or for a club project for measuring altitudes of various sizes of rockets and motor sizes.
